Nick Edwards, M.ED, has been working in Education since 2005. Nick started his education journey in Newark, NJ, teaching Kindergarten. Nick wanted to pursue coaching as well. Nick was a Division 1 baseball player, so he brought his game knowledge to coaching. He coached as an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach and moved to the Head JV Coach for three years, winning two County Championships. He became a Head HS Baseball coach down the road. In 2007, he was hired as a BSI (Basic Skills Teacher) for grades 4-8. From 2008-2018, Nick taught fourth grade in NJ. He was an Assistant Football coach from 2007-2011 and was then selected as the Head Coach in 2013 at Kearny HS, NJ.
In 2018, Nick was hired as the Assistant Principal at Smalley School in Bound Brook, NJ. In just a short time of three weeks, Nick became the Principal. Nick was the Principal from 2018-2022. Some initiatives he started were outside classroom/garden spaces, a student council, and five clubs (Robotics, Spanish Literacy, Outdoor Classroom/Garden Club, Drama/Theater, and Newspaper Club). His school received a $250 Award Grant from California Casualty for the Fine Arts Department. Murals were painted in the building; family nights were provided during his tenure. These are just some of the highlights Nick and his staff conducted.
In December 2022, Nick started a new elementary principal position at Academy Street School in Dover, NJ. Nick has been on educational podcasts, written blogs, moderated panelists on aspiring leadership positions, and has been a keynote and featured speaker at educational workshops Learning, listening, failing, and growing have inspired him to share his story with others.
